It is situated on the peak of the hill with the same name in the landscape area of Biele Karpaty above the municipality of Bzince pod Javorinou. The area is desired for legendary ruins of the following castles: Čachtice, Beckov and Tematín.

In 1957 Veľká Javorina hill served as a "halfway station" for enhancing the modulation of signal from the studio in Prague to the studio in Bratislava. First retranslation connection between Ostrava and Bratislava occurred in November 1957, the first transmitter started to broadcast at the end of March 1958.

The transmitter Veľká Javorina in shape reminding a rocket is well seen from far away of the west Slovakia as well as from Morava. The transmitter is located on the state boarder with Czech republic.

In order to get to the peak of 100 metres high tower you have to use a ladder so that all the maintenance and service require good physical condition.
